Abstract
Emotional regulation is an active process involving a series of cognitive, behavioral, and social strategies to help individuals manage their emotions in various contexts, where this study was conducted to examine how emotional regulation strategies are used by online gamers. The participants in this study consisted of three adolescents who were actively engaged in online gaming. Data collection techniques were applied to the informants using purposive sampling, a method of selecting samples based on criteria prepared by the researcher. This study employed a qualitative research method, and data from the three informants were obtained through semi-structured interviews and observations. The results of the interviews with the three participants showed that emotional regulation in the context of online gaming among adolescents does not only depend on the intensity of play but also on awareness, self-reflection, and the ability to choose the appropriate strategy.
