Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the trade war between the United States and China on Indonesia‟s economy. The trade war, which began in 2018 and escalated again in 2025, has become a major global economic dynamic with broad implications, particularly for developing countries like Indonesia that rely heavily on trade relations with both nations. In this context, Indonesia faces serious challenges in maintaining the stability of its export-import sector, the rupiah exchange rate, and the sustainability of its national economic growth. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, analyzed using the neoliberalism perspective, which emphasizes the importance of international cooperation and the role of global institutions. The findings indicate that the trade war has produced contradictory effects: while it reduced Indonesia‟s trade volume with the United States and China, it also created opportunities for diversifying trade partners and expanding export markets to other countries. Amid these external pressures, Indonesia is required to strengthen its economic position through responsive and well-directed policy reforms. In this regard, active government involvement plays a crucial role in maintaining rupiah stability and enhancing the country‟s global economic competitiveness.
