Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction effect of chicken manure and NPK Lao Ying on the growth and production of cayenne pepper. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau from November 2022 to February 2023. This study used a completely randomized design consisting of 2 factors. The first factor was the dose of chicken manure consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely, without chicken manure, 1.2 kg/plot, 2.4 kg/plot, 3.6 kg/plot. The second factor was the dose of Lao Ying NPK fertilizer which consisted of 4 treatment levels, namely without Lao Ying NPK treatment, 6.3 g/plant, 12.6 g/plant, 18.9 g/plant. In order to obtain 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications. Parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, harvesting age, number of fruit planted, number of branches, fruit weight planted, and amount of fruit left over. Observational data were analyzed statistically. If the calculated F is greater than the F table, then a further test of Honest Significant Difference is carried out at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of chicken manure and NPK Lao Ying significantly affected the age of flowering, harvesting age, number of fruit planted, number of branches, and fruit weight of the plant. The best treatment was found in the application of chicken manure 3.6 kg/plot and NPK Lao Ying 18.9 g/polybag. The main effect of chicken manure was significant on plant height and number of fruit residue, the best treatment was chicken manure 3.6 kg/plot. The main effect of NPK Lao Ying fertilizer was significant on plant height and number of fruit residue. The best treatment with a dose of 12.6 g/plant.
