Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth and production response of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) to NPK Grower fertilizer and shallot skin immersion water. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution KM 11, No. 113 Kelurahan Air cold, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru, starting from October 2022 to February 2023. This study used a 4 x 4 Completely Randomized Factorial Design which consisted of 2 factors, namely the first factor was the dose of NPK Grower fertilizer with level 4 treatment, namely 0; 25; 50; 75 g per plant. The second factor is the dose of water soaked in shallot skin with a level of 4 treatments, namely 0; 100; 200; 300 ml per plant. Parameters observed were: plant height, number of branches, leaf color, flowering age, harvest age, number of fruit planted, weight of fruit planted, number of remaining fruit planted. Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ follow-up test with a level of 5%. The results showed that the response of growth and production of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) to NPK Grower fertilizer and shallot skin soaking water had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height, flowering age, harvest age, leaf color, number of fruits per plant, weight fruit per plant, number of fruit left. The best treatment was found in the application of NPK Grower fertilizer 70 g per plant. The main effect of giving the onion skin soaking water has a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment was 300 ml of onion peel soaking water per plant.
