Abstract

Research with the title Application of Vermicompost Fertilizer and NPK 16:16:16 on the Growth and Production of Bitter Gourd (Momordica charantia L.) on PMK Soil, has been carried out in an experimental garden at Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru, for 3 months from December 2021 to February 2022. This study aims to determine the interaction effect and main effect of vermicompost fertilizer and NPK 16:16:16 on bitter melon production on PMK soil. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 factors. The first factor was vermicompost fertilizer with 4 treatment levels, namely 0, 150, 400 and 450 g/plant. The second factor was the dose of NPK 16:16:16 consisting of 4 treatment levels 0, 10, 15 and 30 g/plant. Parameters observed were flowering age, harvesting age, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant and number of remaining fruit per plant. Observational data were analyzed statistically and carried out by Follow-Up Test for Honest Significant Differences (BNJ) at the 5% level. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the interaction between the application of vermicompost fertilizer and NPK 16:16:16 had a significant effect on the parameters of harvesting age, number of fruit planted, number of fruit per fruit, fruit weight per plant and amount of fruit left over. The best treatment is vermicompost fertilizer at a dose of 450 g/plant and NPK 16:16:16 30 g/plant. The main effect of vermicompost fertilizer was significant on all observation parameters. The best treatment is vermicompost fertilizer 450 g/plant. The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer is significant on all observed parameters except for the age of flowering. The best treatment is NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer dose of 30 g/plant.
