Abstract

Workers/operators at gas stations (SPBU) in Duri City still pay little attention to occupational safety and health (OHS). This is evident in the lack of use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, which protect against exposure to gasoline vapors. This is despite the fact that the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is regulated in regulations to minimize the risk of occupational diseases. The research problem formulation aims to determine the form of protection for occupational safety and health (OHS) for gas station workers in Duri City and the obstacles encountered in its implementation. The method used was empirical with a descriptive-analytical survey technique. The study population was employees at the Sudirman and Hang Tuah gas stations in Duri City, using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires. The results show that both gas stations have implemented occupational safety and health (OHS) protection, but implementation has not been optimal. Workers were still found to be undisciplined in using personal protective equipment (PPE), lack ongoing training, and lack a formal integration of the occupational safety and health (OHS) management system. The main obstacles in implementing occupational safety and health (K3) protection include weak internal supervision of compliance with safety procedures, lack of understanding and awareness of workers regarding the importance of occupational safety and health (K3), budget limitations, and lack of supervision and guidance from the government agency, the Bengkalis Regency Manpower Office.
