Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the work environment and job stress influence motivation. To determine whether the work environment and job stress influence employee performance. To determine whether motivation influence employee performance. To determine whether the work environment and job stress influence employee performance, with motivation as an intervening variable at the general Bureau of Riau Provincial Goverment. A sample size of 100 respondents was selected, and the data collection method used was a questionnaire. The data collection method used was quantitative methods supported by structural equation modeling (SEM) using the smart PLS 3.0 application. The work environment significantly influences employee work motivation. Work stress has a negative and significant effect on work motivation. The work enviroment significantly influences employee performance. Work stress has a negative and significant effect on employee performance. work motivation significantly influences employee performance. The work environment significantly influences performance through work motivation as an intervening variable. Job stress has a negative and significant effect on performance through work motivation.
