Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work motivation and work environment on employee job satisfaction and performance at the Department of Industry and Manpower in Kampar Regency, as well as to examine the role of job satisfaction as an intervening variable. The research employed a quantitative approach with data analysis techniques using SmartPLS. The results show that work motivation does not have a significant effect on employee performance, even though certain motivation indicators, such as transparency in giving rewards, were rated highly. On the other hand, the work environment has a positive and significant effect on performance, both in terms of physical and non-physical aspects. In addition, both work motivation and work environment have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. This indicates that non-financial factors, such as recognition, appreciation, and a comfortable and harmonious work environment, can enhance job satisfaction. Furthermore, job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, meaning that the higher the level of satisfaction, the better the employee's performance. However, job satisfaction does not mediate the relationship between work motivation and performance, while it successfully mediates the effect of the work environment on performance. The study concludes that improvements in employee performance are more influenced by the work environment and job satisfaction than by work motivation alone.
