Abstract
This research is entitled Effect of Magnesium Concentration on the Growth and Yield of several Melon Varieties (Cucumis melo L) in Hydroponic Fertigation System. This research aims to determine the effect of magnesium dosage on growth and yield of four melon varieties (cucumis melo l) in hydroponic fertigation system. The research was conducted in the Kebon Enha Lima greenhouse, Jl. Lintas Timur Km. 26. Simpang Beringin, Bandar Seikijang, Pelalawan, Riau for 3 months, from January - March 2025. The study used a Split Plot Design. The primary plot treatment was the dose of Magnesium (Mg) of 5 levels, which are 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 g/l of water. The subplots were melon plant varieties of 4 levels: Kirani, Kinanti, Apollo, and Glamour. The parameters were plant height, net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, flowering age, chlorophyll, weight, diameter, flesh thickness, and fruit sweetness. The research data were analyzed statistically using the BNJ test (5%). The results showed that the interaction of magnesium dose and four varieties were significantly different on plant height, net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, chlorophyll content, weight, diameter, and fruit sweetness. The best interaction of net assimilation rate was a combination of Mg 60 g/l water kirani variety, plant height was Mg 90 g/l water kinanti variety, fruit weight, and diameter were Mg 90 g/l water glamour variety, fruit sweetness was Mg 90 g/l water kirani variety, relative growth rate, and chlorophyll were Mg 120 g/l water kirani variety. The effect of magnesium dose and some varieties were significantly different in all parameters. The best of chlorophyll content was Mg 120 g/l water and 90 g/l water for other observations. The best of plant height was the kinanti variety; net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, flowering age, chlorophyll, and fruit sweetness was the kirani variety; and weight, diameter, and thickness of fruit flesh was the glamour variety.
