Abstract
The development of forensic technology, particularly DNA testing, has become a significant breakthrough in criminal investigations, including in murder cases. Murder cases often present challenges in establishing evidence, particularly when the perpetrator attempts to cover their tracks or when the victim is in a condition that makes identification difficult. This is where DNA technology plays a crucial role, as it can be extracted from various biological sources, such as blood, hair, saliva, or skin tissue that may remain at the crime scene or on the victim's body. The Kampar Police, in collaboration with the Riau Regional Police, utilize a DNA laboratory to support investigations, despite facing challenges such as limited equipment, trained personnel, and relatively long analysis times. The main objective of this research is to determine how DNA technology can be applied to solve murder cases at the Kampar Police and the factors influencing its use. The research method used is observational research, using a survey, including interviews as a data collection tool. This research is descriptive and analytical, providing a clear and detailed overview of an incident that occurred, specifically regarding law enforcement against perpetrators murder cases at the Kampar Police and the factors influencing its use. The research results and discussion conclude that the application of DNA technology to solve murder cases at the Kampar Police Station provided accurate and irrefutable scientific evidence. Collaboration with the Riau Regional Police strengthened technical capacity through an adequate forensic laboratory, enabling rapid and accurate analysis of biological samples. The application of DNA technology to solve murder cases at the Kampar Police Station was influenced by several key factors. Obstacles and solutions faced in the investigation process to uncover a premeditated murder case are the lack of witnesses, the victim's identity not being found, changes in the authenticity of the crime scene, weather and time factors and the lack of experience of investigators.
