Abstract

The study area is at 0°41'21.42" and 0°42'59.73" South Latitude, 100°46'10.18" and 100°48'19.47" East Longitude. Based on the administrative map, it is included in the Muaro Kalaban area and its surroundings are in the Silungkang District, Sawahlunto City. The purpose of this research is to know the geological conditions, the lineaments of the mountains (lineaments), the development of geological structures and the influence of geological structures on the geological conditions of the study area. This study uses geological mapping methods with a small scale and lineament identification through remote sensing. Based on the analysis, the research area has 2 geomorphological units, namely the Slightly Steep Denudational Hills Geomorphology Unit and the Structural Steep Hills Geomorphology Unit. Has a lineament direction of the mountains northeast-southwest. The geological structure obtained is joint with the general direction of stress obtained is northwest-southeast (NW-SE) and normal faults and horizontal faults with a general direction of stress northeast-southwest (NE-SW ). The influence of the geological structure on the geological conditions of the study area can be seen from the lineaments of the mountains which are in the same direction as the general direction of the fault stress but in the opposite direction to the direction of rock deposition. This indicates that the structure has influenced the geomorphology of the study area. Rocks that have a geological structure have a hard compactness compared to rocks without a geological structure.
