Abstract
The increase in tobacco consumption leads to population growth and tobacco industry development. In Indonesia, active smokers outnumber passive smokers. Harmful substances in tobacco pose health threats, including to passive smokers. The government aims to prevent this through smoke-free area policies as mandated by the Health Law. The Islamic University of Riau also implements this regulation, yet some individuals still smoke, adversely affecting passive smokers. An automated device that detects and neutralizes cigarette smoke is proposed as a solution. The MQ-2 sensor and IoT technology will be utilized. Smoke concentration data will be transmitted via the internet and notified through Telegram. The primary objective is to construct this device and test sensor sensitivity. The benefits encompass knowledge enrichment, meaningful innovation, and academic contribution. The RAD method is employed in this research. The conclusion indicates the successful development of a cigarette smoke detection and neutralization device, enhancing monitoring capabilities and providing efficient audio alerts to deter active smoking.
