Abstract
A business development strategy is a process of improving the way an existing or future business operates by enhancing the quality of our efforts by mobilizing our thoughts and energy, such as motivation and creativity, to achieve a desired goal.This study aims to analyze the development strategy of the Onion Chips Small and Medium Industry (SME) in Indragiri Hulu Regency. The sample in this study consisted of 22 SMEs. This mixed-method study, namely qualitative research using quantitative data, was conducted. Data analysis used a SWOT analysis with a strengths and opportunities strategy. The analysis of the onion chips SME development strategy obtained from the research results from internal strength factors includes providing quality products compared to competitors, providing good service to consumers, having sufficient operational vehicles,having reliable human resources, having close access between SMEs and raw materials, and having a good management system. External opportunity factors include government support for SME development, strong product sales, few competitors in similar businesses, advances in science and technology, high demand for online sales, and bargaining power with consumers.
