Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of competence and the utilization of information technology on employee performance, with work ethic as an intervening variable at the Population and Civil Registration Office of Kepulauan Meranti Regency. This research employs a quantitative approach. The data collection techniques used include questionnaires and documentation. The sample for this study consists of 108 employees from the Population and Civil Registration Office of Kepulauan Meranti Regency. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results show that competence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The utilization of information technology (IT) also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance3. Competence has a positive and significant influence on employee work ethic
