Abstract

This study explores key determinants influencing investment decisions in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. As MSMEs play a vital role in local economic development yet often face funding constraints, understanding investor preferences is essential. The research focuses on four primary factors: profit potential, risk perception, business knowledge, and the presence of investment guarantees. A quantitative approach was employed, using primary data collected through online questionnaires distributed via email and WhatsApp to members of the DPD REI Riau and the general public in Pekanbaru. Data analysis was conducted using frequency distribution and cross-tabulation to identify patterns and relationships between demographic variables and investment considerations. Findings reveal that all four factors significantly and simultaneously influence investor decisions. Male respondents, aged 35–50 and holding undergraduate degrees, were the dominant investor profile. The study also highlights the importance of collaboration among investors, business operators, and guarantors in fostering investment confidence. This study concludes that MSME investment decisions are shaped by a combination of interrelated factors rather than isolated considerations. It recommends that MSME stakeholders enhance business transparency, educate potential investors, and develop structured guarantee systems to increase investment appeal.
