Abstract

The Election Supervisory Body is a state institution that has the main duties and functions of supervising all stages of elections and elections throughout the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in Riau Province. Therefore the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) which is a problem in this case is whether Bawaslu really carries out its work effectively in accordance with Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections. With this the author takes the title: Duties and Authorities of the Riau Province Bawaslu in Handling 2019 Simultaneous Election Violations. The purpose of this study was to find out how the results of the duties and authorities of the Riau Province Bawaslu were in handling violations in the 2019 simultaneous election and to find out what obstacles were faced in exercising its authority in the 2019 simultaneous election. The author in this study used a qualitative descriptive research type with data collection techniques based on from the results of observations and interviews then sources from books, journals, articles, laws or documents from the object to be studied. This study concludes that the duties and authorities of the Riau Province Bawaslu in Handling 2019 Simultaneous Election Violations are in the not optimal category. This shows that the Riau Province Bawaslu's duties are not running as they should, so that violations continue to occur.
