Abstract

Corrections are the final part of the penal system in the integrated justice system. Thus, the type of punishment is still called imprisonment but the implementation of imprisonment is based on the correctional system. Correctional inmates also vary widely in terms of age, type of crime, and term of sentence. One of them is an elderly perpetrator of narcotics crime (LANSIA) who is one of the inmates in Correctional Institutions who must receive intensive guidance and direction. The problem of this research is how to implement coaching for elderly convicts in narcotics cases at Bagansiapiapi II A Prison and what are the obstacles in fostering elderly convicts in narcotics cases at Bagansiapiapi Prison II A. In this study, the authors used the observational research method, namely conducting a survey to obtain information by collecting data through interviews. While the nature used in this study is in the form of descriptive. The guidance of elderly convicts who commit narcotics crimes is not much different from the guidance of convicts in general. The development of elderly convicts is based on statutory regulations governing the development of convicts. The development of elderly convicts consists of fostering independence and fostering personality so that they become good. In carrying out coaching, of course there are obstacles, especially elderly prisoners, namely experiencing difficulties in activities that cause the physical condition of prisoners and the characteristics of the elderly to return to their childish nature.
