Abstract

Basically the threat comes from someone who has the desire to gain illegal access rights into a computer network. Therefore, it must be determined who is allowed to have legal access to the system that contains applications or important data, and the threats they can pose. A computer network security system is a system for preventing and identifying unauthorized use of computer networks. .Preventive measures help stop unauthorized users called “intruders” from accessing any part of a computer network system. The purpose of /Computer network security/ is to anticipate computer network risks in the form of physical and logical threats, either directly or indirectly disrupting ongoing activities in computer networks. Riau Islamic University WiFi is a wireless network protocol at Riau Islamic University that is used by student computers or smartphones to connect to the internet without using cables. The term WiFi itself is used to refer to a wireless (wireless) LAN (Local Area Network) based on the IEEE 802.11 network protocol standard. So far, internet users on campus, especially staff, are so weak in terms of data communication security on the network, considering that all students also access the internet simultaneously by using a wireless network on campus. Security gaps in the configuration of IP addresses (Internet Protocol Addresses) on campus can result in anyone being able to access the campus network while in the campus environment. By analyzing the Wireless Local Area Network network security system using Wireshark and Ettercap, data communication can be captured from existing protocols.
