Abstract

Insurance or coverage arises because of human needs. As is well known, that in living this life, humans are always faced with something that is uncertain, which may be beneficial, but may also be the opposite. However, the problem that often occurs is that the insured neglects his achievements to pay premiums on time. The problem in this research is how the legal consequences received for arrears of life insurance premiums at PT. Dumai Bumputera Insurance and how the rights and obligations of the insured who are in arrears of premiums at PT. Dumai Bumiputera Insurance. The type of research used in this research is observational research legal research, namely by way of a survey conducted by way of interviews with the head of the branch of PT. Bumiputera Dumai, and the insured who is in arrears. While its nature is descriptive, namely research that aims to provide a real and concrete picture. Based on the results of research that legal consequences received for arrears in payment of life insurance premiums at PT. Bumiputera Life Insurance in Dumai City is still not fulfilling a sense of propriety and far from a sense of justice for the insured because the insurance party with one side decides that the insured's policy becomes inactive even though the insured is still in a flexible period or within the 30-day follow-up payment grace period which results in the insured only receiving a value cash and loss of payment of compensation and coverage from the insurance. and The rights and obligations of the insured who make premium arrears at PT. Dumai City Bumputera Insurance is that the insured has the right to only get cash value without receiving compensation and coverage, while the insured's obligations are erased in the payment of life insurance premiums or stop.
