Abstract
Cakaplah.com is one of the many online news portals in Pekanbaru which is seen as a provider of actual information and has the speed of news being updated all the time. Even though it is classified as a new site, CANGKALAH.COM has quite high popularity in Pekanbaru, when viewed based on the number of visitors to the site (pageviews) from 2016 to 2022. Over time, the performance of this web-based news portal has decreased due to the large number of visitors accessing this news portal. In addition, dynamic web applications will certainly slow down the performance of the web itself. This happens because the more dynamic a webbased application is, the more data will be loaded from the database. There are requests or requests from system users causing the server to be busy, the system to be slow, and query queues occur in the database so that the time needed to access the online news portal and transfer data becomes long. This condition will greatly disturb visitors who want to access the news portal website. Against the background of the case above, steps are needed to improve website performance from the server side. The solution to overcome this obstacle is to optimize on the server side with the aim of facilitating data access and speeding up response time and data transfer. To avoid this problem, it is necessary to optimize the database using the Memcached feature so that queries do not occur repeatedly. 2. Based on the results of tests that have been carried out using the gtmetrix.com stress testing tool, namely on the home page, news categories and news details, it can be seen that website pages using memcache are lighter and on average get a B or good value and have an average performance value above 90%.
