Abstract

Face recognition has become an intriguing subject in the fields of artificial intelligence and image processing. In various industries, the use of face recognition has rapidly evolved, including in attendance systems. PT. Lion Parcel Pekanbaru, a leading logistics company, requires an efficient and accurate attendance system to manage employee presence. This research aims to implement face recognition using the Histogram Oriented Gradient (HOG) method in the attendance system of PT. Lion Parcel Pekanbaru. The HOG method has proven effective in extracting unique and relevant facial features, which can be used for individual identification. In the initial stage, employee faces are recorded using CCTV cameras connected to the attendance system. The obtained facial images are then processed using the HOG method to extract gradient-based features. By utilizing this technology, the company can optimize the employee attendance process by reducing the reliance on traditional methods such as identity cards or fingerprints.
