Abstract

Progress and development often have two sides, positive and negative. Likewise with social media. One of the negative impacts that occur on social media is the spread of negative content on Twitter. To minimize the occurrence of criminal acts of spreading pornography, the Police at the Riau Police work closely with all relevant officials as well as elements of the people of Riau Province and its surroundings to reduce or eradicate this form of criminal act of spreading negative content. The main problems in this study are how the spread of same-sex porn videos through Twitter social media in the Riau Police and what are the obstacles in investigating the spread of same-sex porn videos through Twitter social media. The research method that the writer uses is empirical (observational research) or sociological legal research, namely legal research is conceptualized as a social institution that is in real terms associated with other social variables. While the nature of the research is descriptive, namely presenting and interpreting facts systematically so that they can be more easily understood and concluded. Because this research wants to describe the role of the police in enforcing the law against criminal acts of pornography in the jurisdiction of the Riau Regional Police. The results of the research that the authors conducted, namely the Riau Regional Police have shown good results in handling cases of alleged ITE crimes, each person intentionally and without rights distributing and/or transmitting and/or making electronic information and/or electronic documents that have content violating accessible. decency and/or any person who produces, makes, reproduces, duplicates, distributes, broadcasts, imports, exports, offers, trades, rents, or provides pornography through a Twitter social media account. Where there are information crimes and electronic transactions and pornography, namely photos / videos containing decency committed by Twitter account owners who re-tweet and post videos and photos of homo or gay people masturbating or having sex. While the factors of obstacles and obstacles in law enforcement against the spread of pornographic content on social media Twitter in the law area of the Riau Regional Police, namely the weak synergy, facilities and infrastructure, the small frequency of meetings and cultural factors and the lack of community factors which make it difficult for the police to find perpetrators of pornographic crimes happened in Riau.
