Abstract
Rice is the product most consumed by Indonesian people. The availability of sufficient rice is one of the main tasks of the government as stated in Law No.18 of 2012 concerning Food, where Article 12 paragraph 2 states that, "the availability of food, including rice, is the responsibility of the local government and the central government. This study aims: (1) The development of imported rice prices, PDB, exchange rates, production and consumption. (2) F the factors that influence Indonesian rice imports. (3) The impact of imported rice prices, PDB, exchange rates, production and consumption on Indonesian rice imports. This research was conducted in Indonesia from July 2022 to November 2022 which included the activities of preparing proposals, data collection, data tabulation, data analysis and report writing. The method used in this research is a literature study from the official publications of institutions related to this research. The type of data source used in this study is time series data for 32 (thirty two) years from 1990 to 2022. Secondary data derived from several published literature from existing institutions. During the period 1990-2021 the development of the price of imported rice increased by 3.45%, the development of GDP increased by 15.21%, the development of the exchange rate increased by 8.54%, the development of production increased by 0.82% and the development of consumption increased by 1.02%. During the 1990-2021 period, the production variable had a simultaneous and partial negative and significant effect on Indonesian rice imports and the consumption variable had a simultaneous and partial positive and significant effect on Indonesian rice imports. while the variable price of imported rice, PDB and the exchange rate have a positive and insignificant effect on Indonesian rice imports. During the 1990-2021 period, a 10% increase in production will lead to a 0.15% decrease in rice imports. A 5% increase in price increases imports by 4.98%, a 16% increase in GDP increases imports by 0.01%, a 20% increase in exchange rates increases imports by 0.0028%, a 2% increase in consumption increases imports by 0.07%. The increase in all variables increased rice imports by 4.93%.
