Abstract

One of the renewable energy sources that can be developed is wind energy, which can be used to turn turbines and generators to produce electricity. There are two types of wind turbines, namely the Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) and the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT). The development of wind power plants as lighting has been widely carried out using horizontal shaft wind turbines such as propeller type turbines, where this type of wind turbine has the advantage of being able to produce high efficiency. However, this type of wind turbine also has disadvantages, namely it requires a very large initial torque when the turbine starts rotating and requires careful design planning for its construction so that the installation of a horizontal shaft wind turbine can work well. In addition, it must be placed on top of a tower or tower with a certain height so that later you will get high-speed winds. While on the other hand, the Savonius wind turbine is progressing very rapidly, especially in increasing its efficiency and applications which are widely used as power plants or for other purposes, for example as a driving force for water pumps for irrigation purposes. In planning the savonius type vertical wind turbine on this fishing boat, there are several things to consider or limit, such as the fishing boat capacity of 2 gross tonnage, boat operation for 7 hours, the location of the boat operating, namely on the coast of Dumai City. get a wind that has a high speed. Based on the results of the planning that has been done regarding the savonius type vertical axis wind turbine on a fishing boat, the dimensions and specifications of the wind turbine components are obtained as follows.
