Abstract

The agricultural sector in Payakumbuh District is dominant, but it faces significant obstacles to increasing production due to limited transportation infrastructure. Limited transportation access hinders the distribution of agricultural products to markets, leading to a decline in product quality and impacting selling prices. This is also due to farmers using simple modes of transportation that are less efficient for transporting large quantities of harvested crops. In this study, a quantitative approach was used. This study used descriptive data analysis to determine the condition of transportation infrastructure and identify the modes of transportation used by farmers in Payakumbuh District. Multiple Linear Regression Analysis was used to analyze the impact of transportation on the agricultural economy, so that it could determine the effect of more than one independent variable (X) on one dependent variable (Y) using the F test seen from the ANOVA table output, the t test to test the effect of each independent variable on Y and the coefficient of determination test (R2) to measure how much influence the variable has. The research revealed that the condition of road infrastructure in Payakumbuh District is still uncontrolled, with many connecting roads damaged. The modes of transportation used by farmers are pickup trucks (83.33%) and motorcycles (9.62%). The majority of farmers have private transportation, although a small number rent. The results of multiple linear regression tests indicate that variables significantly influence farmer income. Partially, distance to market has a significant positive effect, while travel time and road quality have a significant negative effect (the longer the travel time or the worse the road quality, the lower the production yield). Optimal research recommendations are to improve and enhance rural road infrastructure.
