Abstract
Sexual violence is any sexual act committed by someone through force. Children represent the future hope of families and nations, so special attention is needed to ensure their normal growth and development, both physically and psychologically. In Pekanbaru City, crimes of sexual violence against children have continued to increase significantly in recent years. The high number of cases of sexual violence in society is a problem that requires special attention. The main problems in this research are: first, What are the factors causing the occurrence of sexual violence against children in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru City Police? Second, How are efforts to overcome sexual violence against children in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru City Police? This type of research is classified as observational research or survey research, namely by going into the field to obtain information and descriptive data using data collection tools, namely interviews and literature studies. The results of this study indicate that the factors causing sexual violence against children in Pekanbaru City are economic, educational, environmental and community factors, lack of parental awareness, and the influence of cyberspace or the internet. Efforts that can be made to overcome sexual crimes against children that occur include: (1) Preventive/prevention by providing awareness about the dangers of sexual violence threats to parents and the community by authorities such as the police and social services, providing an understanding of sexual violence against children in the family and community environment by authorities such as the police and social services, providing an understanding of sexual violence in the educational environment by teachers at school, teaching to obey religion can be given by parents at home and teachers at school and supervision of the use of the internet/cyberspace. (2) Repressive/prevention in the form of providing social/customary sanctions and sanctions based on positive law and also providing appropriate treatment to victims by involving the family, community, authorities and government.
