Abstract

This study aims to uncover the discourse contained in Piers Morgan Unsensored Part 2: Andrew Tate Talks Palestine and Israel with Piers Morgan, using qualitative research methods and Teun A. Van Dijk's discourse analysis approach using microstructure, superstructure, and macrostructure text analysis. The subject of the study is the Youtube video of Piers Morgan Unsensored Part 2: Andrew Tate Talks Palestine and Israel with Piers Morgan with the object being the conversation between Andrew Tate and Piers Morgan. Data collection uses observation, documentation, and literature study, data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman analysis model in the form of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, then in examining the data using data source triangulation techniques. The results of the study indicate that in the discourse analysis of the macrostructure text analysis the theme raised is the views of Andrew Tate and Piers Morgan regarding the conflict and how the media frames the issue in the conflict, Andrew calls Israel's actions genocide while Piers considers the action a form of Israeli self-defense from Hamas attacks. In the superstructure of the differences of opinion in the arguments presented by both of them, where Andrew emphasizes the importance of morality in the actions taken by Israel by avoiding killing civilians, and Piers who defends Israel's actions as a response to the terror carried out by Hamas. In the microstructure, semantics shows the existence of two different and conflicting points of view between Andrew Tate and Piers Morgan, syntax describes how sentence construction can strengthen arguments, stylistics describes how Andrew Tate and Piers Morgan's style in delivering statements which then clarifies how their positions are during the conversation, and rhetoric describes how emotions and persuasive language can influence the audience.
