Abstract

Advances in information technology have developed in almost all aspects of life, including in the field of education. One important innovation in higher education is the implementation of an academic information system aimed at improving the efficiency of academic services. SIMFOKOM is an important unit in the management of the academic information system at the Islamic University of Riau, which plays a direct role in providing services to students, lecturers, and the academic community. This study aims to investigate how SIMFOKOM's service quality contributes to enhancing the academic service image for users at the University of Islam Riau. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews and documentation. There are four factors in image formation according to Frank Jefkins' theory. The results of the study show that, overall, SIMFOKOM's image as an academic service unit has been formed quite well, but still needs some improvements, particularly in terms of communication, user education, and staff service attitude training to form a more positive image in the future.
