Abstract

This study aims to determine the form of supportive communication that occurs among fellow breast cancer sufferers. This supportive communication plays a very important role in providing support and information needed for breast cancer fighters who are struggling during treatment. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach that aims to describe the form of supportive communication among fellow breast cancer sufferers. Using observation, interview and documentation data collection techniques to obtain relevant results. The informants in this study were breast cancer patients in Pekanbaru and were in the WhatsApp group "Mama Emang Cantik PKU" who were undergoing treatment. The results of this study indicate that the form of supportive communication occurs verbally such as exchanging experiences and information and nonverbally such as touch, expression and so on. This communication is very helpful in motivating patients to undergo the treatment process. This shows the importance of the existence of support from fellow breast cancer sufferers when undergoing treatment.
