Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of wearing the turban hijab as a fashion style among teenagers female in Pekanbaru. The main objective of this research is to explore the motives of young women in choosing the turban hijab as part of their fashion identity. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach based on Alfred Schutz's theory, which seeks to understand the subjective motives behind individuals’ actions. Schutz categorizes motives into two types: because motives (past-oriented), which refer to the experiences that led the informants to wear the turban hijab, and in-order-to motives (future-oriented), which refer to the goals and expectations they associate The study involved four female adolescents in Pekanbaru who wear the turban hijab in their daily lives and on social media. The findings show that the because motives include an interest in fashion, inspiration from hijab-related content on social media, and work-related factors. Meanwhile, the in-order-to motives reflect a improve appearance to be more fashionable, want to look different, to make it easier to choose an outfit, increace self- confident.
