Abstract
The desire for fame is a psychological phenomenon that has been increasingly developing alongside the rise of social media usage, where personal existence and self-validation are often linked to digital popularity. In this context, narcissism is considered one of the personality traits that may contribute to the drive for fame. This study aims to analyze the relationship between narcissism and the desire for fame among individuals in early adulthood. The sample consisted of 116 participants aged 18–25 years, selected using a convenience sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were the Unified Narcissism Scale (Sivanathan et al., 2024) to measure levels of narcissism, and the Desire for Fame Scale (Gountas et al., 2012) to assess participants' motivation to become famous. This study employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach to examine the relationship between variables. The analysis results revealed a significant positive relationship between narcissism and the desire for fame (p < 0.05), with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.608**. These findings indicate that the higher an individual's level of narcissism, the greater their desire to become famous, reflecting a moderately strong correlation between the two variables.
