Abstract
This study aims to understand the meaning of happiness among unmarried women aged 30–35 years. The background of this research is based on the social stigma that often marginalizes adult women who remain unmarried, even though they are still able to experience happiness in ways that are meaningful to them. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive study method, involving two informants selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out through semi-structured interviews and observations. The results showed that the meaning of happiness for unmarried women is closely related to gratitude, independence, social support, and the freedom to live life on their own terms. The research subjects found happiness through close relationships with family, career achievements, personally enjoyable activities, and self-acceptance of their single status. Despite cultural and social pressures, both informants were able to maintain happiness by building a positive and realistic outlook on life. This study concludes that marital status is not the sole determinant of happiness; rather, the meaning of happiness can be formed subjectively through personal experiences, self-perception, and a supportive environment.
