Abstract
This study aims to identify sources of waste and provide strategies for waste elimination at the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau (UIR), using a Lean Management approach. A qualitative research method was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation and in-depth interviews. The findings revealed that sources of waste stem from the use of electrical devices, including air conditioners, lights, laboratory tools and machines, computers, and projectors. Contributing factors include inefficient habits and a lack of supervision over electricity usage. To address these issues, several elimination strategies were proposed: including turning off electrical devices when not in use, implementing energy-saving policies, increasing awareness of electricity usage, optimizing monitoring, using energy-efficient technology, employing automatic sensors, analyzing energy flows, providing visual guidelines, and ensuring consistency in energy use. Implementing these strategies is expected to reduce the University's operational costs. Adopting Lean Management principles can improve operational efficiency, yielding positive impacts on the University's environment and sustainability.
