Abstract

The skincare industry in Indonesia is growing rapidly, driven by consumer awareness and influencer influence, making Indonesia a significant contributor to global growth. However, the high selection of anti-aging products causes consumer confusion in choosing the appropriate one. This research proposes a web-based Decision Support System (DSM) using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to recommend skincare based on criteria such as effectiveness, price, and skin type suitability. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and literature studies. System functionality testing (black box testing) shows that the login form and CRUD features (criteria, sub-criteria, alternatives) function optimally. Implementation and questionnaires to 10 respondents in Pekanbaru resulted in a satisfaction level of 82% (“Strongly Agree”) on the appearance, convenience, and assistance of the system in skincare selection. The implemented SAW calculation successfully ranks skincare alternatives, with “Ponds Vit C, Niacinamide” as the top rank. The system proved to be effective and feasible to use as an objective tool in selecting anti-aging skincare. Suggestions for development include the addition of a comparison method (WP/TOPSIS) for accuracy validation, usage guidelines, and integration with marketplace product databases to make it more dynamic.
