Abstract
The use of traditional medicine is part of the nation's culture and has been utilized by the community since long ago in medicine and in maintaining public health. The Center for Food and Drug Supervision (BBPOM) has the responsibility of supervising traditional medicines. However, there are still many traditional medicine products that are included in the public warning list circulating in the market, the supervision carried out by the Center for Food and Drug Supervision (BBPOM) is not optimal, the supervision schedule is erratic, and there are still many traditional medicine distribution facilities that have not been researched. The purpose of this study was to determine the Supervision of the Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) on Traditional Medicines in Pekanbaru City. The research method used is a qualitative method. The theory used is Handoko's theory with the indicators set, namely accurate, timely, objective and comprehensive, centered on strategic supervision points, economically realistic, organizationally realistic, coordinated with organizational work flow, flexible, instructional and operational, and accepted by members of the organization. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The results showed that there was no complete data on distribution facilities, no time bond. In the implementation of supervision, not all distribution facilities are inspected, there is a risk analysis in supervision, human resources are inadequate, coordination goes well, supervision carried out adjusts the focus and priorities according to changes in regulations, and organizational members understand the supervision system carried out. Suggestions in this study are to increase cooperation with related agencies, create a supervision time bond, supervision is carried out fairly, increase collaboration with local governments, increase human resources, and inspection must be more intensive and expand its scope.
