Abstract

This research focuses on waste management by the Waste Management Technical Implementation Unit in Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency by highlighting existing problems. The problems identified are people throwing illegal rubbish right in the median of Jalan Sudirman, overloaded rubbish dumps, and low public awareness of keeping the environment clean. The aim of this research is to conduct an analysis of waste management by the Waste Management Technical Implementation Unit in Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency. The theory used consists of indicators for waste storage, waste collection, waste transfer, waste transportation and final waste disposal. The research approach used is a quantitative approach. The type of this research is a descriptive survey. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, questionnaires, documents and literature study. Research findings show that even though waste storage is available, waste storage has not been implemented optimally, apart from that, final waste disposal is not yet optimal, this is due to limited waste land and conditions that do not allow it. This research suggests that the Mandau District Government is expected to invite the public to keep the environment away from rubbish by not throwing rubbish carelessly and not making illegal rubbish bins right in the median of Jalan Sudirman and it is hoped that the UPT will invite the private sector to collaborate in the process of providing rubbish baskets or invite the public to work together to utilize existing waste so that it can be made into rubbish baskets and it is hoped that the government will also increase the number of communal tanks for temporary storage so that rubbish is no longer scattered on the streets or in other places in Mandau District as well as finding a new landfill.
