Abstract
The objectives of this study are : (1) The Characteristics and Profiles of Businesses, (2) Business Income, (3) The Influence of Production Factors on Business Income, (4) Factors That Influence The Production Risk of Superior Native Chicken Farming Businesses. Research was conducted in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, the research location consists of 5 sub-districts that have the largest population of superior native chickens. Samples were taken as much as 50% from farmers in Bangkinang, Kuok, Kampar Kiri Tengah, Tapung Hilir and Tapung Districts. Data collection was carried out through direct interviews with respondent using questionnaires. The collected data were then analyzed using Cob-Douglas and tested using the SPSS program. The results of the study showed that the characteristics of farmers consisted of an average age of 42.23 years, education dominated by high school graduates of 56.67%, average experience of 3.10 years, average number of family members of 4.03 people. The business profile consisted of a population dominated by 100-599 chickens of 60%, the type of cage dominated by postal cages of 66.67% and the workforce sourced from family members. The average income of superior native chicken farming businesses was 14.37% of production costs with a Return Cost Ratio (R/C) value of 1.14. Independent variables together affect the production of superior native chickens by 96.2%. Independent variables together affect the risk of production by 92.1%.Based on the research results, it is recommended for farmers to pay more attention to the use of DOC, industrial feed and artificial feed, both in terms of quantity and quality. DOC poses the highest risk due to being imported from outside the region which affects the level of stress and adaptation, for that it is necessary to make efforts to meet it themselves through the role of the government and farmers.
