Abstract

Comparative Study of Rice Farming in Farmers who Use and Do not Use Combine Harvester in Rambah Smao District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. This research was supervised by Dr Elinur, SP, M.Si and Dr H. Zulhelmy, S.E., M.Si, Ak, CA, ACPA. Rambah Samo Sub-district, Rokan Hulu Regency, is a potential area for the development of paddy rice farming. According to several studies, the use of Combine Harvester can affect production costs, production and income received by farmers. The purpose of the study was to determine the characteristics of farmers and their business profile, analysis of paddy rice farming in CH and Non CH farmers and comparison of production costs, production and income of farmers in CH and non CH farmers. This study used a survey method with a total sample of 80 people divided into 40 farmers using CH and 40 Non CH. Data analysis of the comparison of production costs, production and income of paddy rice farming on farmers using CH and Non CH using independent t-test analysis mode. The results showed that the average age of farmers was 49.56 years, the majority had elementary education and farming experience of 23-27 years. Farmers mostly have narrow land (< 1ha). Production costs of CH farmers were Rp 11,057,372/ha/MT while those of Non CH farmers were Rp 13,458,576/ha/MT. Rice production in CH farmers is 3.84 tonnes/ha, while in Non CH farmers is 3.69 tonnes/ha. The income received by CH farmers is Rp 15,842,628/ha/MT, while that of Non CH farmers is Rp 12,370,128/ha/MT. Based on the results of the T test, it is known that there are significant differences in production and farm profits with the use of CH machines while production costs are not significantly different. The use of CH has a significant impact on increasing the production of paddy rice in Rambah Samo District so that it can increase farmers' income.
