Abstract
Mineral deposition or commonly called scale is one of the main problems faced by the oil and gas sector. The establishment of scale can have a major impact on the operations, economy and safety of many oil fields and wells. Scale is formed due to the mixing of two different types of water that are incompatible, pressure drops, temperature changes, and pH. The various scales that occur depend on the composition of the formation water (the ion content in the formation water). Formation water is a fluid that can dissolve the ions contained in the reservoir. Formation water produced with oil and gas contains several compounds in the form of ions, namely cations (positive ions) and anions (negative ions).This research will use organic polymers, namely durian seed extract. The results of chemical compound testing on the results of durian seed extract contained a phosphorus content of 18.316% using an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF). This study discusses the effect of durian seed extract as a scale inhibitor on formation water samples using concentrations of 10 ml and 60 ml in 20 ml distilled water and variations in immersion time of 30 minutes and 60 minutes. Based on the research conducted, it is known that durian seed extract can be used as an organic scale inhibitor. Where good efficiency is found at a concentration of 20 ml in 20 ml distilled water in 60 minutes, namely 0.663 with a percentage of 6.6%.
