Abstract

The control and use of drilling cement is the key to the success of a cementing operation. Failure in the cementing process can occur due to an imperfect cement slurry mechanism so that the annulus hole is not completely filled with cement slurry and also due to poor planning of cement slurry, this improper cement slurry will create cracks and cavities in cement. With the passage of time, it becomes a permeable zone and fluids are lost. The high cellulose content in pineapple crown leaves ranges from 69.5% - 71.5% because this relatively large content can be used to make CMC made from natural ingredients which are more environmentally friendly. With the above problems, this prompted me to conduct research on the effect of adding additive CMC of pineapple crown leaves to conduct laboratory tests on the effect of adding additive CMC of pineapple crown leaves 2 gr, 4gr, 6gr, 8 gr and 10gr, on thickening time in drilling cement. Conducting laboratory tests on the effect of the addition of CMC additive from pineapple crown leaves 2 gr, 4 gr, 6 gr, 8 gr and 10 gr, on filtration loss in drilling cement. Knowing the comparison of CMC addition of pineapple crown leaves with industrial CMC to drilling cement. Based on research conducted in the laboratory, the filtration loss value was from 253,153 ml in standard semen to 119,834 ml after the addition of CMC additive from pineapple crown leaves 10 gr, all samples met API standards. The thickening time value obtained from the thickening time value test on standard cement was 1 hour 32 minutes 30 seconds to 2 hours 14 minutes 37 seconds after adding 10 grams of pineapple crown leaf CMC additive, but according to API standards only adding 2 grams of pineapple crown leaves cmc – 8 grams is allowed, because the addition of 10 grams exceeds the API standard for class G cement thickening time, which is a maximum of 120 minutes.
