Abstract

Data Envelopment Analysis is one of the methods that can be used to measure the efficiency level of Islamic banks. It is employed to identify the causes and solutions for the inefficiencies observed in Islamic banks through the analysis of inputs and outputs. Therefore, the determination of inputs and outputs in DEA analysis is considered crucial. This research aims to determine the efficiency level of Islamic commercial banks using the Data Envelopment Analysis method. The study adopts a quantitative research approach with a descriptive study design. The subjects of this research are Islamic Commercial Banks registered with the Financial Services Authority, selected through purposive sampling. This resulted in a sample size of 12 Shariah banking companies for the period from 2017 to 2022, generating a total of 72 data points based on financial reports and predefined input and output variables. The findings of this research conclude that the majority of companies exhibit varying levels of efficiency. PT. Bank BNI Syariah, PT. Bank Bri Syariah, PT. Bank Muamalat Indonesia, PT. Bank Victoria Syariah, and PT. Maybank Syariah Indonesia demonstrate high efficiency with a score of 100, indicating that they have successfully achieved or approached their targets. Conversely, PT. Bank BRI Syariah, PT. Bank Panin Syariah, PT. Bank Syariah Mandiri, and PT. BCA Syariah show varying levels of efficiency, with some considered inefficient with scores below 50.
