Abstract

In general, cementing operations aim to attach the casing to the wellbore wall, protect the casing from mechanical problems during drilling operations, so that it can support the casing and other surface sequences and withstand formation pressure, hence the values for thickening time, compressive strength, and shear bond The resulting cement strength must comply with API standards. To overcome these problems, one of them is by adding accelerator additives. This study uses an accelerator additive derived from community waste, namely ale-ale shells, in addition to adding economic value as well as being environmentally friendly, ale-ale shells contain CaCO3 as an ingredient for accelerator production. The CaCO3 compound from Ale-ale shells is obtained through a calcination process at 500°C which functions to release gases in the form of carbonate or hydroxide. Then the accelerator from the Ale-ale shells was added to the cement slurry through laboratory analysis with concentrations of 3, 6, 9 and 12 grams. The results of this test showed that the fastest thickening time was obtained at a concentration of 12 grams in 122 minutes, for the highest compressive strength value at a concentration of 12 grams of 4,424.49 Psi while the shear bond strength value was highest at a concentration of 12 grams of 498.76 Psi.
