Abstract

The “GGPS” field is an area located in the Central Sumatra Basin which is known as an old basin with abundant light and medium oil production. The field is included in the Sihapas group which consists of the menggala formation, the bangko formation, the bekasap formation and the thorn formation. With an Original Oil In Place value of 3,089 MSTB, this field produced 1,396 MSTB from 1975 to 2012 with a total recovery factor (RF) of 45%. In this field, an unusual thing happened in one of the formations or sands, namely the amount of production exceeded the total calculated reserves, with a reserve calculation of 157 STB in the Menggala formation and the oil production obtained was 803 STB. It can be concluded that the formation or layer has greater oil potential than previously estimated reserves. Therefore this research was conducted with the aim of increasing oil production in the "GGPS" Field by making production forecasts and field development scenarios using reservoir simulations. This research phase starts with the preparation and processing of data which includes geological data, rock characteristics, fluid characteristics, and production data, then initialization is carried out and continued with history matching which ends with the stages of making production scenarios. By carrying out 3 scenarios of field development where each scenario has different results for oil recovery in that field, in the first scenario the recovery factor is 31.1%, in the second scenario the recovery factor is 35.4% and in the third scenario the recovery factor is 37.6%. Of the three scenarios that have been carried out, the third scenario is the best compared to the others because it has the greatest recovery factor or increase in oil recovery.
