Abstract
This research was conducted from June to July 2024 at the Microalgae and Fish Nutrition Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru. This study aims to determine the effect and best light intensity on the growth and density of Chlorella sp. cells. The method used is the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with 5 treatments and 3 replications, namely treatment P1 giving a light intensity of 2,500 Lux, P2 (3,000 Lux), P3 (3,500 Lux), P4 (4,000 Lux), and P5 (4,500 Lux). The results showed that differences in light intensity in the culture media had a significant effect on the growth and density of Chlorella sp. cells. The best light intensity was found in treatment P5 (4,500 lux), with a cell density of 653.33 × 104 cells/mL on day 6, a specific growth rate of 0.220/day, the highest biomass amount of 0.46 gr/L, the lowest in treatment P1 (2,500 lux) of 533.33 × 104 cells/mL on day 6 with a specific growth rate of 0.217/day, biomass amount of 0.40 gr/L.
