Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the length of palm solid fermentation as a culture medium on the growth and production of maggot (Hermetia illucens). The method used was a complete randomized design (CRD) 5 treatments with 3 replicates, namely, P1 = unfermented, P2 = fermented (7 days), P3 = fermented (14 days), P4 = fermented (21 days) and P5 = fermented (28 days). The results of the study obtained the best combination of nutrients in the P4 treatment with weight growth of 0.18 g, length growth of 1.29 cm, daily growth rate of 1.31% and obtained an average production of 767 g. The results of the culture media content test of protein 13.09%, crude fiber 8.62%. Environmental parameters during the study were temperature ranging from 35.7 to 41.2oC, humidity 70-96% and pH 6.3-6.5. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) test conducted showed that there was a significant effect of the length of fermentation as a culture medium on the growth and production of maggot so that H1 was accepted.
