Abstract

This research was carried out for 30 days in October 2023 at the Fish Seed Laboratory (BBI) Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity and determine the optimal concentration of Cassia alata L. leaf extract against the growth of Vibrio alginolyticus, Aeromonas salmonicida, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 2 replicates was employed. The treatments included P1 with 10% extract concentration, P2 with 20%, P3 with 30%, P4 with 40%, and P5 with 50%. The results indicated that Cassia alata L. leaf extract contains alkaloids, terpenoids/steroids, and saponins, which contribute to its strong antibacterial activity against Vibrio alginolyticus, Aeromonas salmonicida, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The optimal concentration of Cassia alata L. leaf extract for inhibiting the growth of these bacteria was found to be 50%.
