Abstract
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of the Alkaline Surfactant Polymer (ASP) and Hybrid ASP (Hybrid Alkaline Surfactant Polymer) methods using normal radial grids in sandstone formations. Four different scenarios were carried out to compare the effectiveness of the two methods in increasing oil recovery in sandstone formations. In this study, the CMG GEM 2020 simulator was used to analyze oil recovery. ASP and Hybrid ASP are chemical EOR methods commonly used in oil fields, with ASP using one type of alkali, namely Na2CO3 and Hybrid ASP using two types of alkali, namely Na2CO3 and NH4OH. The results showed that scenario 2 with the use of alkaline Na2CO3 of 0.31, NH4OH 0.1 wt%, surfactant of 0.27 wt%, and polymer of 1350 ppm gave the highest oil recovery of 45.76%, while scenarios 1, 3 and 4 had almost the same oil recovery. with respectively 45.73%, 45.68%, and 45.71%. Although there is no significant difference in the results of the oil recovery factor between the two methods, the results of this study indicate that the use of a higher concentration of surfactant can reduce the risk of adsorption of the surfactant itself on mineral formations which can increase the effectiveness of the chemical EOR method. However, in this study the addition of Hybrid Alkali to ASP did not affect the adsorption of surfactants.
