Abstract

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of two methods, ASP (Alkaline Surfactant Polymer) and Hybrid ASP, in overcoming binding and depositional barriers in sandstone formations and increasing the productivity of wellbore. The growth of the oil and gas industry requires innovative technologies to meet the world's energy needs, and wellbore productivity is strongly influenced by several factors such as rock formation conditions. Both primary and secondary production methods generally recover only a small fraction of the existing oil, leaving significant amounts of oil trapped in the reservoir. The EOR technique is designed to overcome the challenges associated with reservoir characteristics, such as low permeability, high viscosity, and capillary forces, to mobilize and extract the remaining oil. Sandstone formations are a type of rock formation that are often found in the process of exploration and production of oil and gas. In this study, a comparison between the two methods will be carried out using the Grid Radial Regular on sandstone formations and the results will be analyzed using the GEM CMG simulator software, and is a continuation of the previous research conducted by Adam and Rona. It is hoped that by doing this comparison it will be known how well the performance of the two methods is and will help choose the appropriate method for different formation conditions. The study was conducted using 4 scenarios, scenarios 1 and 3 using ASP with one type of alkali, while scenarios 2 and 4 use an alkaline hybrid. The research results show the value of each RF 45.62%, 45, 74%, 45.63% and 45.65% from scenarios 1 to 4. From these RF values it is known that the addition of alkaline hybrid to the sandstone reservoir radial regular grid does not significantly increase the acquisition of RF values. However, this means that the addition of alkaline hybrid to ASP can lead to an increase in the acquisition of RF values.
