Abstract

Feasibility Analysis of Rice Milling Business in Mukti Jaya Village, Rimba Melintang District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province (Case Study of Mr. Nonok's Business), Supervisor by Mr. Khairizal, SP, MMA. Rice is one of the most strategic food crop commodities and has an important role in food security. This commodity is very important because rice is difficult to substitute with other commodities in the short term. Rice is the main source of carbohydrates and protein, both in urban and rural areas. Rokan Hilir Regency is one of the regencies in Riau where some of the population are farmers. The objectives of this study aimed to analyze 1). Characteristics of entrepreneurs and business profile of rice milling 2). Non-financial feasibility of rice milling business 3). Financial feasibility of rice milling business and 4). Sensitivity of rice milling business. The method used in this research is a case study method on the rice milling business owned by Mr. Nonok. The research was conducted in Mukti Jaya Village, Rimba Melintang District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted for 6 months starting in December 2023 - May 2024. Respondents in this study were Mr. Nonok as a business owner. The business used as the object of this research is an entrepreneur who is active and consistently produces rice. The data used in this study come from primary data and secondary data. The type of data used consists of quantitative and qualitative descriptive data, business analysis of investment criteria (Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, Net B/C and Payback Period) and Sensitivity. The results of this study indicate that entrepreneurs are productive with 33 years of age, 16 years of education or undergraduate (S1) with 5 years of business experience and 3 family dependents. This rice milling business is a micro-scale business, and uses modern technology. Non-financial feasibility shows that based on technical aspects, market and marketing aspects, environmental aspects, management aspects are feasible to run, while legal aspects are not feasible to do. Furthermore, the results of the financial feasibility analysis show that the rice milling business is feasible because it meets 4 investment criteria with an NPV value of 1,947,251,610 > 0, Net B/C 4.05 > 1, IRR 37% > the prevailing interest rate, and Payback Period 5 years 2 days < business life (15 years). Based on the sensitivity analysis of the rice milling business, which is more sensitive to a decrease in selling prices with NPV 1,574,789,034 with a percentage decrease of 19.12%. Then the IRR becomes 33%, with a percentage decrease of 0.67%. Net B/C becomes 3.40 with a percentage decrease of 0.27% PP for 6 years and 1 day.
