Abstract

Women have a strong ability to develop the traits needed to choose work or family. In this case we can see the role of women in 2 ways, namely 1) women as housewives and, 2) women as housewives and breadwinners either additional or basic. This study aims to analyze: Characteristics of entrepreneurs, labor, tofu agroindustry business profile, tofu agroindustry business, and the role of women in tofu agroindustry business in Ukui Village, Ukui Subdistrict, Pelalawan Regency. Respondents were taken by census consisting of 3 entrepreneurs and 7 workers. Data analysis used was descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results of this study illustrate that the tofu agro-industry business in Ukui Village, Ukui Subdistrict is on average classified as a small-household business with the capital used is own capital, the labor used is relatively small. The characteristics of entrepreneurs and labor on average are still in the productive age category, namely the age range of 20-54 years, with the average length of education of entrepreneurs is 9 years (SMA) while the average labor is 7.71 years (SMP), and the average business experience of entrepreneurs is 14 years while labor is 5 years, the average number of family dependents is 4 people. The technology used in the tofu agro-industry in Ukui Village, Ukui Sub-district is classified as semimodern. The use of soybean raw materials averaged 93.33 Kg/production process at a cost of Rp 1,297,287/production process. Gross income IDR 3,020,850 / production process. Net income IDR 1,475,596.12 / production process. Efficiency (RCR) 1.95, and added value IDR 18,360.00. From the two aspects analyzed, the role of women in the tofu agroindustry business in Ukui Village, Ukui Subdistrict in the production process is still small because there is a considerable difference between women's HOK and men's HOK, while in decision making the role of women can be said to be large.
